I am Sundeep Kaur Sitara.
Yoga teacher. Senior Law Lecturer and Examiner. Wife. Mother. Founder of The Temple in Sussex.
I was born into a Punjabi family where Nāad Yoga, the yoga of sound, formed the backdrop to everyday life.
My father, Ustad Sital Singh Sitara
devoted his life to Gurmat Kīrtan. Blind from childhood, he authored two books from memory and spent his life teaching others. His commitment to music, discipline and service continues to shape my own path.
My mother, Perminder Kaur Sitara, is the pillar of our family.
From her I continue to learn generosity, the joy of sharing and the finesse she brings to everything she does.
My own practice begins before dawn. Amrit Vela is the foundation of each day. I begin in silence, listening to my breath before moving into Kīrtan. Breath, sound and silence continue to guide my practice.
Alongside my work at The Temple, I have spent almost three decades teaching and examining law. The discipline of legal education, together with a lifelong commitment to living practice, has shaped the way I teach through curiosity, careful listening and respect for every individual’s experience.
May your path be guided by breath, strengthened through living practice and illuminated by the wisdom that already lives within you.
